Project 2950: Pedaling Coast-to-Coast on the Southern Tier: The Bike and Route

I will be riding my new 2025 Trek Domane with a rear rack attached for carrying a few more things including morning coffee!

Upgraded tires to 38MM for ease of rolling over rough roads and potential gravel. Very comfortable and seat is a Bontrager commuter with some liquid cushion.

Other equipment includes Garmin 1050, Varia Radar

The route is pictured below and pretty much follows the Southern Tier route, with some exceptions due to hotel accommodations for a larger group.

The Why

I'm setting out to ride the 2,950 miles of the Southern Tier Cross-Country Bike Route, and with the fantastic support of Cycle of Life Adventures, I get to focus on the "why." For me, this ride is about truly seeing the USA at a human pace. It's a bucket list goal that represents a profound physical and mental challenge that has given me purpose as I invest in my wellness journey.As a servant business leader, I've spent a career putting others first, and this journey is a conscious step toward finding more balance—proving that it's possible to serve others while also pursuing personal goals. And, of course, it's about remembering to have fun and experience long-distance cycling in the biggest way imaginable. So, clip in and follow along!
